A posting board for the surplus one district has and the shortage another has.

K12.Exchange is where a K-12 district, school, or booster/PTA group posts a surplus resource — instruments, uniforms, curriculum sets, portable furniture, an underused activity-bus route or facility slot — for another K-12 organization to find and claim. Two districts arrange the hand-off directly; K12.Exchange never becomes a party to the transaction.

Who this is for

District facilities and purchasing staff sitting on a storage room of usable equipment with no disposal budget to move it. Activity directors and booster/PTA leads who know a neighboring program could use exactly what theirs just replaced. Small independent and charter schools without a warehouse, working a tighter budget than a large district and often the first to claim a listing. Any K-12 org, public or independent, with something sitting unused or something it is short on.

What gets posted

Band, choir & athletics: instruments, uniforms, equipment

A retiring band program's surplus tubas, a marching program resizing its uniform order after enrollment drops, a gym program with a rack of unused mats after a facilities upgrade — the kind of resource that sits in a storage room for years because the district that would use it next has no way to find out it exists.

Curriculum sets, classroom libraries, lab kits

A textbook adoption cycle ending, a novel-study class set a department is retiring, chemistry or biology lab kits from a curriculum a district no longer runs — still usable, still purchased with a district's money, and otherwise headed for a dumpster or a locked closet.

Portable furniture, risers, staging, room dividers

Choir risers, portable stage decking, room-divider partitions, cafeteria tables from a renovation — heavy, awkward to move, expensive to buy new, and the kind of item a neighboring district would gladly send a truck for if it knew the listing existed.

Activity-bus route-sharing and shared-facility offers

A district running an activity bus half-empty on a route that passes near another district's away game, or a district with an underused gym, black box theater or turf field willing to host another program's practice or meet for a shared cost — posted the same way a physical item is.

How it works

  1. A district describes the item or offer — what it is, condition, quantity, pickup window — and the contact who should hear about it.
  2. Another district browses by category and finds the listing.
  3. The interested district contacts the posting district directly, using the contact the listing carries — not through K12.Exchange.
  4. The two districts agree on pickup, inspection, and any exchange or purchase terms between themselves.
  5. The posting district marks the listing filled once the hand-off is done.

What's honest-off today

No listing-creation form is wired on this site today. A district that wants to post something reaches K12.Exchange the same way it reaches any other district first: by contacting Stanley Studios directly, and we hand-place the listing while the self-serve form is built.

No payment is processed on this site, no commission applies, no escrow is held, and no shipping or pickup is arranged by K12.Exchange. No listing's posting contact is background-checked or identity-verified beyond the district affiliation they state. K12.Exchange does not inspect, warrant, or take custody of anything listed.

Questions districts ask before they post

Is there a fee to browse or post a listing?

No. Browsing and posting are free today. K12.Exchange does not process a payment, take a commission, or charge a listing fee on this host — money is honest-off across this entire site.

Who arranges pickup, inspection, and payment if money changes hands?

The two districts, directly, off this site. K12.Exchange is a posting board, not a marketplace with checkout: it does not arrange shipping, does not hold funds in escrow, and does not inspect or warrant the condition of anything listed. Whatever terms the two organizations agree to are theirs to agree to.

Who can post a listing, and is a posting district verified?

Any K-12 district, school, or an affiliated booster/PTA group speaking for one. Posting staff self-identify their district affiliation; K12.Exchange does not run a background check or an identity-verification step on a posting contact. Treat a listing the way you would treat a cold call from an unfamiliar district office: confirm who you are dealing with before you send a truck.

Does Stanley Studios take ownership or custody of a listed item?

No, never. An item stays with the posting district, on district property, under district control, until the two districts complete whatever hand-off they arrange between themselves.
